Study Groups

The Association for Acute CardioVascular Care (ACVC) has created expert study groups and a scientific group to advance the science and the writing of consensus, position, and guidelines papers in order to increase the ACVC's leadership position in those fields. Each group is under the supervision of the ACVC Executive Board but has the liberty to recruit experts, and to propose and run its activities.

• Biomarkers – Focusing on the proper clinical application of cardiac biomarkers. This group is under the leadership of Johannes Mair (GE).
• Acute Heart Failure - Highlighting unmet needs and areas of uncertainty in the care of acute heart failure patients. This group is under the leadership of Hannah Schaubroeck (BE).
• Quality Of Care (QoC) - Comprising experts focusing on QoC within acute cardiac care situations, this study group is interdisciplinary and international, under the leadership of Guido Tavazzi (IT).
• EXPERT-PE on Acute Pulmonary Embolism (Acute PE) - This group is under the leadership of Prof. Erik Klok (NL).
• Cardiogenic Shock & Cardiac Arrest CSCA -This group is under the leadership of Alain Combes (FR). 
• Cardiovascular Inflammation  - New Study Group created in August 2026 under the leadership of Franois Roubille (FR)
• Acute coronary syndromes - New Study Group created in August 2026 under the leadership of Kurt Huber (KH)
• Acute cardiovascular disease in women  formally - New Study Group created in August 2026 under the leadership of Sigrun Halvorsen (NO)
