Dear Friends and Members in the Working Group,

The latest official publication from our working group has just been published:

Antithrombotic therapy for secondary prevention in patients with acute coronary syndromes treated with percutaneous coronary intervention: options for personalization to reduce bleeding or ischaemic risks: A Clinical Consensus Statement of the ESC Working Group on Thrombosis, the Association for Acute CardioVascular Care of the ESC, the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions of the ESC, and the ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Pharmacology  (Eur Heart J Acute Cardiovasc Care. 2026 Apr 28;15(4):337-363. doi: 10.1093/ehjacc/zuag021. PMID: 41914626) and a link to the paper can be found here

This document provides practical advice on best practice for personalising dual antiplatelet therapy in patients with ACS undergoing PCI, with evidence-based clinical consensus statements on selecting the most appropriate antiplatelet strategy to optimise clinical outcomes.

Our team have put together some recommended reading including on “Predictors of recurrent venous thromboembolism and bleeding in patients with cancer” with a commentary by Dr Konrad Stępień from the Jagiellonian University Medical College, Kraków, Poland, and from the Young ESC Working Group on Thrombosis.

ESC Heart & Stroke 2026 - EuroThrombosis 2026 Scientific Meeting

We hope you have already diarised our next ESC Heart & Stroke 2026 - EuroThrombosis 2026 Scientific Meeting.  After the first successful joint meeting (EuroThrombosis joining Heart & Stroke), we will continue to join forces this year, with our conference taking place from 13 to 14 November 2026 in Prague, Czechia.

The preliminary programme and official link to the main registration page for the event can be found here and the call for submissions are now open.

The meeting will provide a unique opportunity to hear from leading international experts about the latest advances and developments in stroke and thrombosis research, across the spectrum of cardiovascular disease. Topics will include thrombosis in atrial fibrillation, stroke, acute and chronic coronary syndromes, carotid artery disease, venous thromboembolism, as well as interventional cardiology. We will also cover special populations, such as elderly/frail patients or individuals with cancer, , or at high risk of bleeding. Our programme will also include sessions on the importance of non-traditional risk factors, and the increasing role of digital health and artificial intelligence, and how these developments are changing practices.

This year our Scientific Programme will also include a dedicated 'Translational track', that will feature sessions and talks on basic and translational science. Our programme will be also enriched by debates, keynote lectures, Late-Breaking Science sessions, and workshops and mentoring sessions to provide advice and support to early-career professionals.

Come and learn, engage in scientific discussion, network with peers and present your research. All abstracts will be published in the EHJ Supplements.

We truly look forward to our Working Group Thrombosis meeting in Prague – please join us!
