Cardiovascular health check initiative aims to screen 1,300 participants over four days
For the third consecutive year, delegates attending ESC Congress will have the opportunity to take part in cardiovascular health checks through the Know Your Numbers initiative in the Congress Testing Zone.
The programme will offer participants a personalised assessment of their cardiovascular risk. The initiative aims to screen approximately 1,300 delegates between 28 and 31 August at the Messe München.
Participants will receive a comprehensive health assessment, including testing of key blood markers, urine albumin-creatinine ratio (uACR), blood pressure and waist circumference measurements. A questionnaire covering lifestyle factors and medical history will help provide a fuller picture of cardiovascular health.
The initiative will also contribute to an observational study, generating valuable data on cardiovascular risk factors among Congress participants.
Demonstrating the value of cardiovascular health checks
The programme builds on the success of ESC Congress 2025 in Madrid, where 1,298 delegates, including Spain's Minister of Health, underwent testing during a three-day screening campaign.
The ESC continues to advocate for the implementation of comprehensive European and national cardiovascular health plans that include routine screening and early detection measures. The publication of the EU Safe Hearts Plan in December 2025 marked an important milestone in these efforts, reflecting years of collaboration between the ESC and the European Alliance for Cardiovascular Health (EACH).
As attention now shifts towards implementation, the Know Your Numbers campaign serves as a practical example of how cardiovascular risk assessment can be delivered efficiently and effectively.

By combining scientific expertise, preventive cardiology and health policy advocacy, the ESC Congress health check initiative offers participants an opportunity to better understand their cardiovascular risk while demonstrating how screening can support healthier populations across Europe.
