Right Ventricle
April 2026
About the topic
The right ventricle (RV) is central to cardiovascular performance and prognosis. Its role becomes particularly critical in conditions such as heart failure, pulmonary hypertension and acute pulmonary embolism, where RV dysfunction strongly influences outcomes.
Advances in imaging – including 3D echocardiography and cardiac MRI – now enable more precise evaluation of RV structure and function, supporting earlier detection and better risk stratification.
Recent evidence highlights the significance of right ventricular to pulmonary circulation coupling and its effect on systemic congestion and clinical outcomes.
Effective recognition and management of RV dysfunction call for a tailored, physiology-based approach.
