Dear Colleagues of the ESC Working Group on Adult Congenital Heart Disease,
Welcome to ESC Congress 2026 in Munich. Whether you are joining us in person or following the meeting remotely, we hope you enjoy another outstanding scientific programme.
As always, adult congenital heart disease will have a strong presence throughout the Congress, with dedicated scientific sessions, abstract presentations and valuable opportunities to exchange ideas with colleagues from across Europe and beyond. Please stay tuned for the full list of ACHD sessions, which will be shared through our social media channels.
This year's Congress also marks an important milestone for our Working Group, as it brings the current Nucleus mandate to a close and welcomes our newly elected members. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the outgoing Nucleus members for their dedication and voluntary commitment, and warmly welcome those joining the new team. We look forward to continuing to strengthen education, research, collaboration and patient care within the ACHD community.
We are also delighted to invite you to EuroACHD 2027, the official annual meeting of the ESC Working Group on Adult Congenital Heart Disease, which will take place on 9–10 April 2027 in Gothenburg, Sweden, preceded by a pre-meeting course on the afternoon of 8 April. We hope to see many of you there. Stay updated here.
In this newsletter, you will also find an updated selection of recommended readings, including an expert commentary by Dr Ralph Neijenhuis on the benefits of optimising guideline-directed medical therapy in ACHD patients with systemic left ventricular heart failure.
In addition, we are pleased to highlight the recent joint position statement, Adult Congenital Cardiac Interventional Training, Competencies, and Organization, developed in collaboration with the EAPCI, AEPC and PICS Society, reflecting our shared commitment to excellence in ACHD care.
We hope you enjoy this edition of the newsletter and wish you a productive and inspiring ESC Congress.
On behalf of the ESC Working Group on Adult Congenital Heart Disease
