Research grants

ESC First Contact Initiative Grant

  • Amount: Two grants per year of €2,500.
  • Aim: To provide resources for the establishment of new research links from young scientists from European institutions to hosting institutions in a foreign country, within or outside Europe, for a minimum stay of 10 calendar days.
  • Application period: April-May.

ESC Basic Research Fellowship

  • Amount: one grant per year of €25,000.
  • Aim: to provide a researcher with the opportunity to spend one year in a European research laboratory.
  • Application period: October-December.

Deadline for applications has been exceptionally extended to 29 January 2025.

Award

Outstanding Achievement Award

  • Aim: to honour basic researchers in the early stage of their career.
  • Application period: April-May.
