The Cardiovascular Round Table is a strategic forum for high-level dialogue between industry (pharmaceuticals, devices and equipment) and ESC leadership to identify and discuss key strategic issues for the future of cardiovascular health in Europe.
The Cardiovascular Round Table (CRT), founded in 2001, is a strategic forum for high-level dialogue between ESC leadership and healthcare industry partners, to identify and discuss key strategic issues for the future of cardiovascular health in Europe. The CRT's mission is to provide a political platform to achieve widespread recognition of the importance of cardiovascular health in Europe.
Its overall aim is to create an environment in Europe that is favourable to cardiovascular research, innovation, prevention and management, to allow the ESC to leverage its unique position as a broker between professionals, industry and where appropriate any relevant third parties in order to become a key strategic force in cardiovascular health in Europe.
The CRT serves as an ESC ‘think-tank’ through which members listen, understand, learn from each other and explore strategic priorities for the ESC.
The CRT comprises the ESC Board (leaders in the cardiovascular field) and representatives of 20 industry partners across the pharmaceutical, devices and equipment sectors. It is co-chaired by the ESC President-Elect and an industry representative.
Up to four workshops per year focussing on specific issues relating to either research and development, clinical trials or regulatory issues. Recent examples include "The Cancer Patient and Cardiology" and "Chronic Coronary Syndromes".
The discussions and decisions that take place during ESC Cardiovascular Round Table (CRT) meetings and workshops, are captured in scientific papers and disseminated to the healthcare community through publication in relevant journals, social media and the press.
Chairpersons: Dr Maddalena LETTINO (ESC), Prof. Julia MASCHERBAUER (ESC), Dr Matias NORDABY (Boehringer-Ingelheim), Dr André ZIEGLER (Roche Diagnostics), Dr Isabelle RICHARD-LORDEREAU (Amgen), Industry chair of the CRT
