This section contains information on all education-related areas and is the result of continuing work of the Education & Training, new initiatives for Young Interventionalists and Fellowship Committees since the creation of the Association in September 2006.

Education and Training grants

The EAPCI offers Education and Training Grants of 25 000 Euros to provide an opportunity for trainings in an ESC Member Country in the interventional cardiology field and under the following topics:

  • Percutaneous coronary interventions with focus on metallic and bioresorbable stent technology
  • Interventional pharmacology in patients with ACS and structural heart disease
  • Transcatheter aortic valve implantation
  • Transcatheter mitral valve interventions
  • Structural heart disease interventions with focus on left atrial appendage closure, closure of PFO and atrial septal defects, paravalvular leak closure etc.
  • Intracoronary imaging (IVUS, OCT, NIRS) and physiologic lesion assessment with FFR
  • Carotid and peripheral arterial interventions
  • Imaging for structural heart intervention

European Interventional Cardiology Fellows Courses

From the standards of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), including material selection, indications for PCI, treatment of specific lesion subsets and interventional pharmacology.
This course is designed to aid the continued development of medical doctors who have started or have recently completed a programme of training in interventional cardiology in the Core subjects of the syllabus.

EAPCI Core Curriculum and Syllabus

The EAPCI Core Curriculum and Syllabus specifies the range of knowledge that the EAPCI expects the European Interventional Cardiologists to possess.

The EAPCI Core Curriculum is currently under review and will be available again shortly.

The EAPCI Nurses and Allied Professionals Community introduced the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory Core Curriculum for the Continuing Professional Development of Nurses and Allied Health Professions. It's made for their daily practice in order to provide them with common educational settings into their professional approach.
