Simulation Village

EHRA 2024, Berlin & Online from 7 to 9 April

This year again, we’re bringing an innovative simulation village. You’ll get an exclusive first look and chance to test out the latest sophisticated simulators in intimate groups of three with 9 topics to choose from.

What is the Simulation Village?

Simulation-EHRA-1500x1000.pngThe Simulation Village will give you a unique opportunity to practice and to better understand this new paradigm, and to experience an initiation to these methods. It is also a great opportunity for you to interact with your peers.

This learning pathway for participants will provide a practical overview on the basic interventional diseases management, with a focus on Sudden Cardiac Death prevention, cardiac pacing, and Atrial Fibrillation management.

The synergy between companies and EHRA, providing from one side the best technological tools that are specifically developed for different kinds of intervention, and from another, the best in terms of teaching and proctoring, should pave the way for an innovative education programme for all delegates.

Registration

Eligibility and rules

As an EHRA 2024 delegate, you can register for one of the workshops.
Each workshop can accommodate a maximum of 3 participants. The fee for one session is 10€.
You need to be registered for the congress to sign up for one of the workshops in the simulation village. You still have time to register.

Kindly note that it is not possible to make any change, cancellation or refund to your bookings once registered. EHRA rules and general conditions are applied to the registrations of the simulation village.

Last seats available

Check at the welcome desk of the simulation village if there are still seats available.

Programme

The scientific programme will be based on three basic interventional diseases management journeys.

There will be 9 different topics, with each ten 1-hour sessions throughout the congress.

Workshops have been divided in three pathways:

Journey 1: Cardiac implantable devices CIEDs (workshop 1 to 3)

  • CSP implantation
    • Understand the radiological heart anatomy
    • Learn how to reach the para-hisian region and the interventricular septum with a long sheath
    • Learn how and where to implant a CSP lead with the help of a simulator
  • Extra-vascular ICD implantation
    • Understand the rationale of implanting an extravascular lead
    • Learn how to implant an EV-ICD generator in the left lateral thoracic space
    • Learn how to implant an extra-vascular lead in the retro-sternal space with the help of a simulator
  • Leadless implantation
    • Understand the radiological heart anatomy
    • Learn how to use the 25 French femoral sheath in order to provide access for LLPM
    • Learn how to implant a LLPM with the help of a simulator

Journey 2: Emergency (workshop 4)

  • Complications management (lead extractions…)
    • Learn how to prepare safely the patient before starting a lead extraction
    • Understand the radiological heart anatomy
    • Learn how to extract an endovascular lead thanks to a powered sheath, with the help of a simulator

Journey 3: Atrial Fibrillation (workshop 5 to 10)

  • Echo-guided femoral venous puncture & hemostasis management
    • To understand the anatomy of the groin and the femoral vessels with ultrasound
    • To practice hands-on echo venous puncture on a wet model.
    • Learn hands-on how to obtain immediate and durable hemostasis after the procedure
  • Epicardial Options for Arrhythmia Ablation
    • Understand how epicardial/endocardial ablation address unmet clinical needs in arrhythmia treatment
    • Discover the epicardial options for treating complex AF, VTs and IST
    • Experience hybrid techniques with hands-on simulation
  • Transseptal puncture
    • Understand the radiological heart anatomy
    • Learn how to use the transeptal sheath in order to provide access to the left atrium
    • Learn how to perform a transeptal puncture with the help of a simulator
  • Cryoballoon and PFA single shot ablation
    • Understand the radiological heart anatomy
    • Learn how to prepare the cryoballoon before using it for pulmonary veins isolation (PVI)
    • o Learn how to perform a PVI with a cryoballoon and a PFA single shot catheter, with the help of  a simulator
  • 3D mapping
    • Understand the 3-D heart anatomy
    • Understand and analyse different types of maps
    • Learn how to perform a PVI with a 3-D mapping system, with the help of a simulator

Industry Support

The dfferent workshops of the EHRA Simulation Village are supported by Abbott, Atricure, Medtronic, Microport and Philips in the form of unrestricted financial support. The scientific programme has not been influenced in any way by its sponsor.
