ESC journal family and manuscript sharing – a good idea

When you submit to an ESC journal, you have the option to allow your manuscript to be sharedif your paper is considered a better match for another title within the ESC journal family.

You may know that many great quality papers are not always accepted by big journals, because they are too technical or are slightly outside of the journal’s scope. We have addressed this issue for authors submitting to our journals.

Here’s a simplified example:

  1. You submit a paper dealing with an aspect of heart failure to the European Heart Journal
  2. Your paper is considered very good quality, but too specific/technical for a general cardiology title
  3. Your paper is recommended to the European Journal of Heart Failure (EJHF) editorial team
  4. If the editorial team agrees your paper could be published in EJHF, then permission to transfer is requested
  5. If you agree, then the paper’s transfer and subsequent peer review is handled for you

We have now further improved the system and the overall review is even faster, meaning that for a busy author, you receive a decision quicker than ever and with a minimum of additional administration to handle.

Research has proven that our sharing feature is highly appreciated by the large majority of our manuscript authors and we are very happy to see that they feel manuscript sharing is a good idea.
