Main principles of ACNAP Committees:

ACNAP Committees should work to fulfill the ACNAP Mission and align with ACNAP & ESC Strategic Plans
All ESC volunteers must adhere to ACNAP and ESC policies and procedures, including the ESC Declaration and Management of Conflict of Interest, ESC Code of Conduct, ESC Travel & Meetings Policy, ESC Data Non-Disclosure Policy, ESC Statutes.
All ACNAP committees should collaborate and communicate respecting the ADEPT Principles:
- Accountable: Chairs and Co-chairs are accountable for their committee, but all members are accountable for the work they undertake.
- Data-informed: Decision-making is based on data and facts.
- Empowerment: Providing guidance and support to each other and to others we collaborate with.
- Partnerships: A culture of collaboration and consultation in the work and decision-making.
- Transparent: Open communication in both ways.

Appointment rules & eligibility

Committee members are appointed by the Committee Chairperson in consultation with the ACNAP President-Elect and Presidential Trio. Chairpersons should strive for a geographical and gender balance as well as inclusion of nurses and representation of different allied professions.
Committees are composed of a chairperson plus between three and seven committee members.
Committee members must be ACNAP Members in good standing for the duration of their mandate.
A committee member, including the Chairperson, may accumulate a maximum of two simultaneous ACNAP committee member roles (on different ACNAP Committees).
Members of the ESC Patient Forum may also be directly invited to serve as Committee Members and are not expected to go through the standard application process nor must they be members of ACNAP.

What you should know

Each Committee meets on average 4-6 times per year. Committee members should have relevant experience in the respective field of the committee and have time to commit to the activities of the committee.

Log in to your My ESC account to start your application.
Attach your CV and cover letter and click on "submit" once done.

Deadline: 6 July 2026, 23:59 CEST

Your application will be reviewed by the relevant committee Chair. The final committee composition will be reviewed and approved by the incoming ACNAP President, Prof. Julie Sanders.

Should you be successful, you will be required to become an ACNAP member (if that is not already the case) and to have your ACNAP Membership in good standing for the entire duration of your mandate.

There are lots of rewarding opportunities with work more closely in ACNAP. Across all committees there is a strong commitment to equity, environmental sustainability and working in partnership with patients. There are also lots of opportunities to collaborate with other ACNAP committees, ESC Associations, Councils and Working Groups and with established and new international partners.

It is also a great way to meet new colleagues and establish networks while meaningfully contributing to reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease and promoting excellence in cardiovascular nursing and allied professions! Advocacy and Patient Committee

Chairperson 2026-2028: Catherine Ross

Are you passionate about promoting the voice of nurses, allied professionals and patients in all aspects of cardiovascular care? We envisage a future where nurses, allied professionals and patients have equity of voice and influence in areas of key decision-making and policy development in cardiovascular care. The work of this committee is therefore crucial to drive change both internal and external to the ESC, including the role of nurses, allied professionals and patients in the delivery of the Safe Hearts Plan across Europe. Are you up for the challenge? If so, this committee is for you!

Communication Committee

Chairperson 2026-2028: Mariela Acuna Mora

Al the fabulous work of ACNAP needs sharing! We need engaged and organised individuals who have an eye for social media, communication in print and can support the planning for promotional opportunities across all ACNAP activities and initiatives. This committee is a really great way to learn about ACNAP – and as with all committees is also great fun!

Congress Programme Committee

Chairperson 2026-2028: Michela Barisone

Join the congress committee to be part of developing the leading congress for cardiovascular nurses and allied professionals! The congress is a key event in the ACNAP calendar, and we are looking for committee members who can contribute from a clinical, education and science perspective to support the development of a high-quality, inclusive and attractive programme. Join us to develop the event every cardiovascular nurse and allied professional wants to attend!

Chairperson 2026-2028: Valentino Oriolo

Join this committee if you are dedicated to cardiovascular nursing and allied professional education and professional standards. This committee leads the education and professional standards agenda for ACNAP, working closely with other committees to deliver courses, curricula, webinars and textbooks of the highest quality. We have a number of exciting new initiatives in the pipeline and need a committed team to deliver them!

This committee develops and improves engagement and strategies to disseminate ACNAP and ESC news and activities to ACNAP’s 79 national societies and nursing associations in 62 countries.
