There is an evolution in our thinking about Sports Cardiology as reflected in the recently published 2020 ESC Guidelines on Sports Cardiology and Exercise in Patients with Cardiovascular Disease. From the evaluation of younger patients or older individuals who wish to participate in either competitive sports or leisure sport activities, to which type of sport activities are “good” for the heart and why, this series highlights current knowledge on the subject. Prevention of sudden death during sports activities, management of patients with congenital heart disease who wish to participate in sports are also considered in this series.
