Public Health in Action

Driving positive change for every heart

Heart health should be a universal right, and at the ESC, we translate knowledge into meaningful action to drive our mission. Our public health initiatives are built on solid evidence, strengthened through collaborative partnerships and brought to life in engaging events. By combining data with the passion and expertise of our community, we strive to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and improve the health of communities everywhere.

Statements, facts and figures

We collect, analyse and share real-world data

Despite great progress in cardiovascular medicine, CVD remains the world’s leading cause of death.

To better understand the challenges and guide effective solutions, we collect, analyse and share real-world cardiovascular data from across Europe and beyond. By turning facts and figures into actionable insights, we can highlight inequalities, inform policy and support better care for everyone, ensuring no heart is left behind.

Public health partnerships

We share knowledge and coordinate action

Addressing the burden of CVD requires a shared effort.

We are proud to work within a diverse network of partners, from National Cardiac Societies and academic groups to non-governmental organisations, foundations, policy bodies and multi-stakeholder consortia. By co-creating initiatives, sharing knowledge and coordinating action, we ensure our work reflects the voices and needs of all communities.

Together, we make cardiovascular health more equitable, accessible and effective for everyone.

Events

We unite people to drive action

Our public health activity comes alive through interactive workshops, forums and specialist events, which create spaces for learning and problem-solving.

As well as hosting meetings between our leadership and policy stakeholders, we also work alongside partners such as European Alliance for Cardiovascular Health (EACH) for larger events in Brussels. These gatherings bring together clinicians, researchers, policymakers, industry partners and European Union agencies, such as the European Medical Association. From European Presidency to dedicated policy sessions at major congresses, these events spotlight the latest evidence and inspire action on prevention, equitable access, and environmental health.
