Real-World Data Collection
We collect high-quality cardiovascular data to monitor care delivery, identify opportunities for improvement and inform evidence-based decisions that benefit patients everywhere.
Using the evidence of today to build a better tomorrow
Collectively shaping a healthier future for all
Since 2009 our data collection activities have been made possible thanks to the volontary collaboration of over 100 countries across our member National Cardiac Societies and Affiliated Cardiac Societies and the support of more than 4,000 of centres worldwide. This international collaboration and committment to research has allowed us to build a data research platform that has made us a leading and trusted reference for cardiovascular data in Europe and beyond.
Through these efforts, we link scientific knowledge with everyday clinical reality, enable research in both common and rare cardiovascular diseases, monitor guideline implementation and generate insights that guide the advancement of clinical decision making and patient care.
Patient registries and observational studies
Capturing real-world data to support clinicians and improve outcomes
Our primary patient data research programmes, EuroHeart and GRASP, form the backbone of our real-world evidence strategy.
Through these programmes, we collect data from diverse clinical settings to assess disease epidemiology, monitor diagnostic and therapeutic practices and evaluate adherence to ESC Clinical Practice Guidelines. We also use these insights to inform education and training, develop better risk prediction tools and ultimately monitor and improve the quality of care while identifying unmet needs.
Health management data
Understanding cardiovascular health to inform policy
We gather population and system-level cardiovascular health data to understand how heart disease affects communities, how care is delivered and the economic impact on societies.
By shining a light on real-world inequalities, we can support evidence-based policies and practices that improve cardiovascular health for everyone, across Europe and beyond.
Leveraging data
Transforming complex data into practical tools
We use diverse data sources, including our own real-world data, to create practical, trustworthy tools.
With a network of experts, we apply advanced modeling and risk prediction to turn complex information into clear insights for clinicians, policymakers, and others working to improve heart health.
ESC Data Publications
Findings and insights from registries and studies
We actively contribute to evidence-based medicine by publishing our findings in peer-reviewed journals.
We strive for excellence across our data science activities and regularly publish findings from our studies in world-class, peer-reviewed journals. Publishing in journals also allows us to share our methodology, data sources and limitations, including conflict-of-interest statements and ethical oversight. This underlines our commitment to transparent, trustworthy science and allows others to evaluate, replicate, or challenge the findings.
