This ESC Working Group has a strong educational commitment, especially to young cardiologists, and tries to expand collaborations with basic scientists as well as non-cardiologist colleagues with a multidisciplinary interest in myocardial and pericardial diseases.
We warmly invite new colleagues to join our Working Group, since there is much work to be done to understand, diagnose, and treat this complex but fascinating group of cardiovascular diseases.
Aims
- To promote and organise epidemiological, clinical, genetic, and immunological research in the field of:
- Cardiomyopathies
- Myocarditis and inflammatory cardiomyopathies with exclusive cardiac involvement
- New, unclassified cardiomyopathies
- Pericardial inflammatory diseases
- Tumors of the heart and pericardium
- Myocardial and pericardial involvement in systemic autoimmune or immune-oriented disorders
- Myocardial involvement in genetic diseases and in rare cardiovascular diseases
- To promote ESC educational programmes on myocardial and pericardial diseases.
- To promote the participation of members of the Working group to ESC activities.
- To promote European research networks and multicenter European translational studies in myocardial and pericardial diseases
