Vascular biology is the key to understanding the mechanisms of atherosclerosis, which remains the most frequent cause of cardiovascular disease. As such, atherosclerosis and vascular biology are inseparably linked in our search for better means of diagnosis, prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis. Novel tools and findings will further advance our knowledge and support our quest to reduce cardiovascular disease burden.

The mission of the Working Group on Atherosclerosis and Vascular Biology is to advance the understanding of atherosclerosis by exploring its underlying mechanisms and developing innovative approaches for diagnosis, prevention, and treatment.

As the ESC’s platform for bridging clinical, basic, and translational research, we aim to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and provide high-quality education and training to accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into effective therapies, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

Our mission extends beyond the bench, advocating for the integration of emerging technologies, precision medicine, and continuous professional development to address the unmet needs in vascular health.
