Background
The Working Group on Development, Anatomy & Pathology is one of the oldest working groups within the ESC, excelling in integrating basic, translational and clinical research. The major focus is on all aspects of heart development ranging from cardiac progenitor specification to signal transduction regulating morphogenesis as well as performance of the developing heart and most importantly all abnormal outcomes resulting in congenital heart defects. In addition, the working group integrates other disciplines (e.g. heart regeneration) and aims to strengthen bonds with other working groups within the ESC.
Aim
The establishment of a Young Community aims to provide a dedicated channel for more junior scientists to engage in the activities of the working group and to actively involve them in the organisation and delivery of the annual meeting. At the core of this initiative there is also the drive to develop activities in line with specific needs of the Young Community, such as networking events and a mentoring programme.
