In addition to expanding the community of young researchers in the field of preventive cardiology, Young Ambassadors communicate the needs and interests of their national peers with the EAPC. They also help spread the word about EAPC initiatives and scientific activities at the national level.
Young Ambassadors are nominated for a two-year mandate with the possibility to extend their mandate for two additional years upon validation by the EAPC President, for a total of four years.

It has been an immense honour to have been elected as the EAPC Young Ambassador in Slovenia. This important position has enabled me to establish a vibrant national network of enthusiastic students, early career researchers and health professionals with a particular interest in prevention cardiology. The promotion of the EAPC vision and educational opportunities has sparked a huge interest in Slovenia that extended from young cardiologists and nurses to other allied health professionals (kinesiologists, physiotherapists, dieticians and psychologists) involved in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Apart from online meetings, it was also great to meet many motivated young and senior clinicians in national meetings. During my mandate, I have been privileged to work closely with the national coordinator and representatives for cardiovascular prevention, which demonstrates a great cohesion between preventive cardiologists and other allied health professionals in Slovenia (such as kinesiologists in my case). I believe that the key to future optimal prevention and management of cardiovascular disease lies in a multidisciplinary approach in research and daily clinical practice. It was also very exciting to meet other EAPC Young Ambassadors in several online and face-to-face meetings to share our views and experiences from the individual ESC representative countries. It has been great to see that we all share similar enthusiasm towards the same goal – to reduce the burden of cardiovascular diseases.
