Activities
The ICTS aims to:
- improve the scientific and technical standard of cardiovascular, chest physicians and surgeons.
- improve scientific and social cooperation among members.
- cooperate actively with regional and international cardiac societies.
- promote research and publication of medical and scientific work in cardiovascular medicine.
Annual scientific symposia and workshops are held and the ICTS participates in scientific meetings in the field of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases held by Iraqi medical colleges and hospitals.
The society has an advisory role to the ministry of health and higher education in the field of cardiovascular and respiratory medicine and plays a major role in the establishment of a national Iraqi guideline.
Publication
A bi-monthly bulletin exists. The journal of the society is soon to be published again after having been suspended for the last few years.
