Activities

The Chilean Society of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery (SOCHICAR) has four regional branches and five committees in the areas of accreditation, ethics, scientific, continuous education and finances. There are also 10 departments in the main areas of cardiology, developing research, courses and scientific courses throughout the year and during the annual meeting.

The Health and Heart Foundation, aiming to develop public activities on prevention, is also part of the SOCHICAR. Activities include celebrations of World Heart Day, the Women in Red campaign (WHF) and other activities for the general public during the annual meetings.

Two research grants and several research awards are given annually.

Publications

The Revista Chilena de Cardiologia has been published since 1988, when it replaced the Boletin de Cardiologia (published since 1982). There are four issues a year and a print run of 1,000 copies - an electronic version is available on the SOCHICAR website for members and registered users. The language is Spanish but with abstracts in English.
