Aims of the SIG

  • To focus on sex differences in CVD, especially in relation to cardiovascular imaging.
  • To provide active discussion on equity among not only gender but ethnicity, stages of career and enhance opportunities for all.
  • To enhance the careers of imaging cardiologists by creating opportunities for:
    • Training and professional development,
    • Networking programmes,
    • Promotion of leadership skills,
    • Scientific development.
  • To promote effective career opportunities.
  • To promote and support scientific projects for CVD in certain populations through imaging, which present differences in prevalence, diagnosis and prognosis of an important number of conditions which in addition are often under-represented in clinical trials.
  • To create workshops and education sessions with the topic of CVD in women.

The EACVI Women in Cardiovascular Imaging Education & Training Grants Programme offers financial support for six months to help women from low- and lower-middle-income countries to train in echocardiography in a high-standard clinical centre or university with a large domain of expertise within an ESC member country.
