Why join ACNAP?

Lis Neubeck, Past President of ACNAP, tells us what it means to belong to the association

"I have been a member of the ESC for over 20 years. For a long time I was too shy to get involved with the activities of the ESC; I didn't think I had anything really important to contribute. But this is the real strength of belonging to the ESC and ACNAP. I soon met leaders in cardiovascular health and they encouraged me to see how I could contribute to the ESC mission.

Through membership of the ESC and ACNAP, I have been involved in discussions on guidelines, and in developing educational offers for nurses and allied professionals. Now I help develop the programme for our annual congress, EuroHeartCare, and I meet with colleagues from around the world. This has lead to opportunities to work on new research projects, to be involved in the editorial board of our journal, the European Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing.

I have been challenged, encouraged, supported and inspired through my roles in ACNAP. I have made friends who share the aim of raising the voice of nurses and allied professionals within the ESC to achieve the aim of reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease. I would encourage anyone to become a part of ACNAP."
