The ESC Family

Our strength lies in our people

Who we are

Explore the ESC family

Global community & global stage

Our strength lies in our people – a dynamic network of dedicated cardiovascular health professionals and National Cardiac Societies from across the full spectrum of cardiology, working together with a shared purpose. Their passion and expertise drive everything we achieve as the leading authority in the fight against cardiovascular disease.

Science is not created in isolation; it flourishes through the sharing of ideas, building on collective experiences and learning together. This collaborative approach enriches our collective knowledge for the benefit of patients worldwide.

Diversity is our strength

A network of National Cardiac Societies

We are proud of our multi-cultural roots, which have grown into a unique global network. We were founded in 1950 by 14 National Cardiac Societies and today count 58 National Cardiac Society members from across Europe and the Mediterranean basin.

These institutional members vote at European Society of Cardiology elections and at the General Assembly and actively participate in shaping ESC activities. Our National Cardiac Society members are instrumental across ESC activities, including data collection, reviewing and disseminating ESC Guidelines, delivering the ESC Exam in Core Cardiology, and supporting heart-healthy policy and regulation, to name but a few.

Serving all cardiology professionals

Uniting scientists, physicians, nurses and allied professionals

We unite scientists, physicians, nurses, allied healthcare professionals and everyone who has a role to play in our mission to tackle cardiovascular disease and improve patient care worldwide.

To serve the specific needs of each profession and specialty within cardiology, the ESC family includes dedicated communities - Associations, Working Groups and Councils - each with their own unique team of experts who build educational activities, host congresses, offers awards and grants, publish papers and support their members.

Our Members and Fellows

A dynamic and passionate community

We are proud to welcome more than 100,000 individual members from around the world. We may have European roots, but membership is open to all cardiovascular health professionals – wherever you live and work!

Being a member of the ESC demonstrates that you strive for excellence and that you belong to a unified community that seeks to achieve the best for cardiovascular medicine, research and health. Through a membership fee our members also contribute to the development of our activities that support patient care worldwide.

Fellows of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) are distinguished members of our community who have demonstrated a significant contribution to cardiovascular research, medicine or nursing. Many FESC serve as volunteers within the European Society of Cardiology, take part in our events as faculty and act as ambassadors for excellence in their own institutions.

Your expertise, our global community

Together we advance cardiology

At the heart of the ESC is a vibrant network of communities that bring together healthcare professionals from every corner of cardiovascular medicine.

These communities – our Associations, Working Groups, Councils and cardiac societies – are where collaboration thrives, innovation is shared, and progress is shaped.

Join us on our global mission

Through an ESC membership, you'll not only unlock exclusive benefits and the opportunity to grow alongside us, you’ll also actively contribute to our shared mission, values, and global impact.

“The ESC is a family, and this is why we work so well together for the success of cardiovascular medicine. We have different members, each with a different profile – as humans, as specialists, as cardiologists.”
