Implementation of Guidelines at National Level
Warsaw, Poland
Objectives of the CRT meeting
- Focus on implementing Guidelines at the national level, involving National Cardiac Societies (NCS) together with other national stakeholders. This includes national health authorities, non-cardiological societies, allied professionals and suitable patient's associations.
- Understand the pathways to improve implementation of ESC guidelines, using two recent ESC guidelines as working models, one in the acute setting and another in chronic primary and secondary prevention settings. Specifically, this will involve the implementation of the 2023 ESC Guidelines on Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) and 2024 ESC Guidelines for the management of elevated blood pressure and hypertension. The aim is to map out the journey from their release to their practical application by May 2025, using experience in both in-hospital and outpatient settings.
- Identify weaknesses, address challenges and propose/hypothesize solutions to common obstacles at the national level in selected countries as ‘example’.
- Present successful guidelines implementation paths in some countries.
- Conclude the meeting by drafting a blueprint that could serve as a proposal for the NCS & ESC on implementing Guidelines, involving representatives from national cardiological and potentially related non-cardiological societies. A checkpoint could be planned in 6-8 months, with the final aim being to set up a working agenda for the next 4 to 5 years.
