A diverse community of volunteers

Meet our leaders

We are proud to be a leading authority in the fight against cardiovascular disease. Our strength comes from a diverse community of volunteers, where passionate experts generously donate their time and knowledge to drive our mission, strategy and activities to improve cardiovascular health outcomes on a global scale.

The ESC is led by our Board, each member being responsible for driving an area of the ESC’s activities. In addition, the Board approves all ESC policies, procedures and bylaws. The board comprises elected and non-elected members.

Elected voting members

Every two years we hold democratic elections for key roles within the ESC Board. These Board members are voting members and key decision-makers. Elected Board members include the President, President Elect, Secretary/Treasurer, three Vice Presidents and six Councillors.

ESC Past Presidents

While ESC Past Presidents do not have official roles within the ESC Board and leadership, they remain integral to ESC life by continuing to give their knowledge, expertise and passion to the ESC and the cardiology community.
