ESC Working Group on Pulmonary Circulation & Right Ventricular Function

The ESC Working Group on Pulmonary Circulation and Right Ventricular Function is an ever-expanding scientific community, composed of specialists with a multidisciplinary profile. Our interest, besides focusing on acute pulmonary embolism and pulmonary arterial hypertension, expands to other etiologies of pulmonary hypertension such as heart failure and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary vascular disease. Our main objective is to contribute to progress in basic science, translational and clinical research, and continuing medical education. We consider the interaction and collaboration with other working groups essential in order to complement and enrich our activity.

From here, we welcome and invite you to join us and participate in our scientific activities.

Aims and Activities

  • To promote knowledge and research in the field of the Pulmonary Circulation and Right Ventricular Function
  • To arrange educational meetings
  • To endorse the scientific content of relevant scientific meetings held by other learned societies
  • To work collaboratively with other learned societies in Task Forces to publish guidelines on Acute Pulmonary Embolism and Pulmonary Hypertension
  • To encourage the participation of members in the activities of the Working Group and the ESC
  • To maintain close working links with the Pulmonary Circulation and Pulmonary Vascular Disease Group of the European Respiratory Society, with special emphasis on organising joint meetings including a joint symposium at the ESC Annual Congress
