ESC Working Group on Coronary Pathophysiology & Microcirculation

Dear Members of the Working Group on Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation,

We just returned from the ESC in Paris, where we had the opportunity to meet old and new members of our ESC Working Group on Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation and together enjoyed an excellent scientific program! Resources are now available on ESC365 - check our selection below!

For those who had not the opportunity to attend the ESC-Congress this year, it is our pleasure to let you know comment that we had an outstanding Young Investigator Award Session on Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation on Sunday September 1st.  In this newsletter we want to take the opportunity to congratulate all four finalists with their excellent scientific projects and their high quality presentations, in particular Dr. Betty Raman from Oxford University, who was this year's award winner with her research project titled: ‘Blunted stress myocardial oxygenation and not myocardial perfusion reserve is associated with arrhythmic risk in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy’.

On Monday September 2nd, the ESC Working Groups Networking Reception was organised for Members of all ESC Working Groups, stimulating exchange of ideas and collaboration between the Working Groups. This will likely lead to more joint activities, including joint session proposals for future ESC congresses by multiple Working Groups.

The call for our Working Groups’s Mobility Travel Grant has been very successful! As many as ten young talented scientists have applied this year, with many proposals of very high quality giving the jury a difficult time to decide the winner. We are pleased to announce that Ms Ana Vavlukis has won this year's Mobility Travel Grant. We wish her success and look forward to receiving her report!

We would also like to take the opportunity to invite you to submit abstracts to the Frontiers in CardioVascular Biomedicine congress to be held in Budapest from Thursday 23 April until Sunday 26 April in 2020. The deadline for abstract submission is 24 October.

Please contact any of the members of the Working Group Nucleus if you would like to get further information or to express your ideas!

Kind Wishes

On behalf of the Working Group Nucleus

Dirk J. Duncker (Chairperson) and Teresa Padro (Secretary)
