ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy

Dear members of the ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy.

Again, it is a pleasure to report high activity from our Working Group. At the ESC 2019 Congress in Paris, our Working Group was very active with numerous presentations. Among these, you will be pleased that on September 3, there was the launch of a new MSc in Clinical Trials. This was prepared by our Working Group, and our past chairperson, Prof. Stefan Agewall co-chaired the launch of the program that will we executed by Oxford University and led by Professors Jane Armitage and Perry Elliott.

wg-cvp-msc-clinical-trials-launch-3.jpgThis is only one of our activities that make me proud to chair this Working Group. We are very active in the ESC Guidelines, this year it was on Dyslipidaemias and others, for next year we expect Guidelines on ACHD, Atrial Fibrillation and others with our participation.

To make a short list of our present merits and activities I may list the following:

  • Excellent Journal with IF >6.7, the best of the ESC sub-journals. Editor-in-Chief Stefan Agewall
  • >700 members
  • 2 courses, All About Clinical Trials and Pharmacotherapy at Old Age
  • Angina Awareness Initiative and other initiatives to follow led by Giuseppe Rosano
  • Handbook just published, Editors Keld Kjeldsen and Juan Carlos Kaski
  • A Msc on clinical trials with Oxford University
  • Annual EuroCVP meetin
  • And other items

It is again my sincere wish that our Working Group grows more and more. Therefore I want to ask you to engage in recruitment of friends and colleagues to apply for membership.

Heinz Dresel, MD, Professor
Chairperson of the ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy
