Call for candidates: Industry members within the CRT Nucleus

2 seats are available, for the period September 2026- August 2028, to join the CRT Nucleus

Nucleus industry members are elected for a 2-year term, with the option to remain for one additional term. A mechanism is in place to maintain continuity with part of industry members who can remain in their positions while the others are subject to election every 2 years.

Timelines

Should you wish to put your name forward please write to the CRT manager (Svya Palayan) by 24 April 2026 and provide her with a short motivation letter to be distributed to all voting CRT Industry members.
Voting period: 18 May to 18 June 2026 using the electronic tool “Simply voting”. A separate communication will be sent out to each member company having the voting rights. One vote per company
The results will be announced before the end of June, for as start of mandate end of August 2026, like the new ESC Academic Members.

Rules

Please note that:

Seats are assigned to individuals, not companies.

If a member leaves their company and does not join another CRT member company, their seat will remain vacant until the next election.
To ensure representativeness within the Nucleus, one of the two seats will be reserved for an individual who does NOT work for a company in the pharmaceutical sector.

If the two candidates with the highest votes are both from the pharmaceutical sector, the second-highest candidate will be replaced by the highest-voted candidate not affiliated with a pharmaceutical company.
Outgoing members may reapply. Same, a candidate stepping down can apply for a new mandate.
Only one representative per company is permitted in the Nucleus to maintain diversity"

Mission

The Cardiovascular Round Table (CRT), founded in 2001, is a strategic forum for high-level dialogue between ESC leadership and healthcare industry partners, to identify and discuss key strategic issues for the future of cardiovascular health in Europe. The CRT's mission is to provide a political platform to achieve widespread recognition of the importance of cardiovascular health in Europe.
Its overall aim is to create an environment in Europe that is favourable to cardiovascular research, innovation, prevention and management, to allow the ESC to leverage its unique position as a broker between professionals, industry and where appropriate any relevant third parties in order to become a key strategic force in cardiovascular health in Europe.
The CRT serves the ESC as a ‘think-tank’ through listening, understanding, and learning from each other; through this exchange strategic priorities for the ESC and its future can be set.

Objectives

To bolster and nurture relations between ESC and the Industry partners as well as monitor each other’s expectations to facilitate collaboration.
To improve CRT’s visibility and outcomes to make it more impactful.
To create actions which lead to dissemination of objectives (documents, slides set, meetings, ..)
To encourage networking and cooperation between ESC and Industry by organizing regular events all year long

Job Description (anticipated time: 0.5 hour/week)

This position is voluntary and do not come with financial compensation; it offers an opportunity to contribute to the global enhancement of cardiovascular health.

• Collaborate closely with the Chairs and ESC staff to advance the Nucleus’s strategic goals and objectives.
• Engage actively and constructively in all committee meetings and conference calls, contributing meaningfully to discussions and decision-making.
• Volunteer for special assignments or tasks as opportunities arise.
• Maintain the confidentiality of committee materials and discussions.
• Enhance CRT’s visibility within your professional network whenever possible.
• Encourage colleagues to participate in CRT events that align with their expertise.
• Process relevant email notifications and solicitations in a timely manner.
