• 1 April 2025: Voting rights eligibility deadline
• 1 October 2025: Call for candidates
• 1 November 2025: Deadline to submit applications
• 2 February 2026: Announcement of candidates and opening of the voting platform
• 2 March 2026: Second round of online voting (if needed)
• 2 April 2026: Announcement of the results on the EHRA website one day after the first round (or second round if needed)
• 13 April 2026: The official announcement will be made at the EHRA General Assembly (GA) at EHRA2026

EHRA Rules of Governance: eligibility criteria

As announced during the EHRA General Assembly held in April 2023, rules of governance have now replaced the EHRA constitution (validated by the ESC Board on 25 August 2023). ESC Associations rules of governance are included in Annex V of the ESC Bylaws, approved by ESC Board in December 2024, and subject to some potential changes in July 2025 (as a result of a 2-year review as approved by 2022-2024 ESC Board).
The EHRA election application process and voting will be carried out in accordance with these bylaws.

Voting Rights

Only EHRA Members having settled their membership dues by 1 April 2025 (6 months before the call for applications opens on 1 October 2025) and at the time the voting starts.

Additional Requirements

• Proficiency in English
• An active professional career at the time of taking office
• At least 30% clinical practice at the time of application
• No significant conflict of interest according to the ESC DOI policy

Application Process

Applications will open on 1 October 2025. The list of candidates will be published in February 2026.
