Call for Abstracts
Heart Failure 2026, Barcelona & Online, 9 - 12 May
Abstracts results are now available.
The ESC Scientific Programme Committee would like to thank all the contributors who have chosen heart Failure 2026 to submit their original research.
The Heart Failure Congress Programme Committee would like to acknowledge the members of the Abstract reviewing committee for their essential contribution to the abstract programme.
All Abstract submitters have now been notified by email about the status of their abstract(s) and can view the results from their My ESC account.
How to confirm your abstract presentation
STEP 1 - The submitter must sign in to her/his My ESC account with the email and password used at the time of submission to consult the abstract presentation day, time and format.
STEP 2 - The submitter must select and confirm the presenter from the list of authors.
STEP 3 - The presenter selected in STEP 2 will receive instructions on how to confirm the presentation and submit the related agreement form.
This confirmation should be done as soon as possible to ensure the abstract information is accurate in the scientific programme.
STEP 4 - The presenter must register to the congress - you benefit from the early fee until 23 March 2026.
STEP 5 - The presenter can start preparing her/his presentation by consulting the Presenter Guidelines.
Not only will your science feature at the congress, but it will also be published in the European Journal of Heart Failure - abstract supplement (June 2026).
Important Dates
Mid-February 2026 - Abstract results announcement. A notification email has been sent to each submitter.
Early March 2026 - Opening of the upload platform. A notification will be sent to each presenter.
23 March 2026 - Deadline for the assigned presenters to confirm presentations and submit the related agreement forms.
23 March 2026 - Early fee registration deadline for abstracts presenters. All abstract presenters must register for the congress. Take advantage of the early fee.
9 April 2026 - Deadline for presenters to register and upload presentations. Failure to upload and register to the congress by this deadline will lead to the withdrawal of the clinical case from the scientific programme and all related publications.
Presentation formats
All presenters are required to present their research onsite in Barcelona.
Selected abstracts have been assigned to different presentation formats:
Young Investigator Award Session (YIA)
Two YIA sessions will be held onsite chaired by senior faculty members: one dedicated to Clinical Cardiology and another to Basic Science.
Each finalist will present the key points of his/her research followed by a Questions & Answers period led by a panel of experts who will judge the presentations and determine the winners and runners-up.
Nursing and Allied Professions Investigator Award Session (NIA)
This dedicated Nursing and Allied Professions Award session will be held onsite chaired by senior faculty members. Each finalist will present the key points of his/her research followed by a Questions & Answers period led by a panel of experts who will judge the presentations and determine the winners and runners-up.
Abstracts not selected for an Award session have been automatically considered for the Rapid Fire, Moderated ePoster, or ePoster presentation.
Rapid Fire Oral Abstract sessions
The highest graded abstracts have been selected to be presented orally during the rapid-fire abstract sessions which will be held onsite moderated by senior faculty members.
Moderated ePosters
The highest graded ePosters have been selected to be presented orally during dedicated Moderated ePoster sessions which will be held onsite moderated by senior faculty members.
ePosters
Accepted research will be published on the congress dedicated platform in an ePoster format. These ePosters will be consultable onsite via dedicated stations and online, on demand.
The dedicated platform will offer Interactivity features (such as Like, Share, Comment…) to engage with the presenters and facilitate scientific exchange on the presentation; it will allow continued discussions throughout the event.
