My ESC FAQ

Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about My ESC:

What is My ESC?

My ESC is your personal area and account on the Web Site of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).  It enables you to access and manage your personal information, your memberships and benefits, your attendance and participation at ESC congresses, your subscriptions to ESC Journals and E-News bulletins, and access exclusive content and services.

Please note that creating a My ESC account does not mean that you are a Member of the ESC. Find out more about ESC Membership.

To access My ESC you need an email address and password. You will then be able to access the following personalised areas:

My Account: Check and update your personal information, change your login details.

My Congresses: Manage your registrations for congresses, accreditations and other educational courses, contribute to the Scientific Programmes and access your congress history, and access your CME certificates of attendance.

My Membership/Fellowship: Check your ESC Membership and Fellowship status, apply for or renew your memberships, access benefits and search member details in the Membership Directory.

My orders: where you can find invoices and payment receipts for services ordered on our website.

My Publications: Check your journal subscriptions.

My Profile: Manage your profile information, professional activity, personal information, choice of e-news subscriptions.

My Helpdesk: where you'll find all requests submitted via Contact Us or your Helpdesk. You will be able to see the request that you have created, add additional information, track the progress and even close the request if you no longer require our support.

The number and the diversity of services will be continuously increased and modified to reflect your expectations.

How do I access My ESC?

You can access My ESC directly by selecting “Sign in to My ESC” at the top right of your screen, which will prompt you to sign in.  Once you have signed in, you will be entering your My ESC Welcome page, from which you can review and manage your personal details and preferences, and access the various services. If you are signed in to My ESC already, but elsewhere on the web site, select “My ESC”, also at the top right of your screen, to access your My ESC welcome page.

In other instances, eg for Abstract Submission or Congress Registration, you will be directed from the main website to a personalised webpage in My ESC.  In this case you will again be required to sign in, but you will then be directed to the specific page necessary to access the service concerned.

Note: To check if you already have an account and obtain your login details, select “Forgot Password?” underneath the sign in area.  Otherwise, the first time you wish to access my ESC you will need to “Create an Account”.

Is My ESC free?

Yes, you can join My ESC for free.

Do I need to be an ESC member or cardiologist to create a My ESC account?

Anybody can create a My ESC account, however you should not create an account on behalf of someone else.

How do I create a My ESC account?

Creating a My ESC account is easy.  Select “Sign in to My ESC” on the top right of the page.  When you reach the Sign in screen, select “Create your free My ESC account now” to create your My ESC Account.

Important Note: If you are a regular ESC customer, you will already have a My ESC account set-up.  Please try the “Forgot Password?” function to recover your account details before setting up a new account.  This will ensure that your correct profile, historic information, subscriptions etc. are displayed and applied when you next use a specific My ESC service (e.g. registration, hotel reservation or Journals).  Please use the same email address you registered with (you can change this once signed in).

What do I do if I get the message “The email already exists in our database”?

For security reasons, please note that your email address should be unique and not shared with others.  If whilst completing or updating the information in your My ESC account, you enter an email address that already exists in our database, you will be prompted with the following error message "This email address already exists in our database”.

There are two possible reasons:

  • An account is already set up for you in the system.  Please use the “Forgot Password?” in the Sign in box to receive your account details by email.
  • You're sharing this email address with others, and it has already been used by one of them in their My ESC account.  In this case, please register with a different email address that is only used by you.

How can I recover my account details?

Select “Forgot Password?” in the Sign in box and enter your email address when requested, in order to receive by email a link which will allow you to change your password.

Can I use the ESC website without creating a My ESC account?

Everybody can view the site, but access to certain pages requires a My ESC account.

How do I add or change my personal information?

Once signed in to My ESC, you can review and update your personal details.  Select the "My profile” on the drop down menu next to your name to access the pages to change your personal details, your email address, your account details, your activities and interests, your e-news subscriptions and your journal details.

How do I change my password?

When you are signed in to My ESC, on your welcome page, select "View my Profile" and a drop down menu will appear. Select “Change my Password”

Sign in troubleshooting

There are a few reasons why you may not be able to sign in.  Please consult the help instructions below:

Try to sign in and message displayed: "Login has failed. Double-check your username and password":

  • Avoid using copy and paste of your password as you may copy extra characters (e.g. trailing spaces), making your username or password invalid.
  • Check that your CAPS LOCK key is set correctly as passwords are case-sensitive.
  • Make sure your system is not using a previously saved password.
  • If you are still having problems signing in, then use the “Forgot Password?” feature.  A link to reset your password will be emailed to you.

Try to sign in and message displayed: "Error decoding authentication request message", or similar message

  • Use a different browser (we support the most current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox. Chrome is the preferred browser).
  • Follow this link to sign out completely of our services:
https://escol.escardio.org/MyESC/forcelogout.aspx (It will take you to ESC's homepage)
  • Delete cookies and/or cache history

Try to sign in and no message displayed:

  • Close your internet browser, re-open it and try to sign in again
  • If you still cannot sign in but get no error message, your browser settings may be a problem.  In such a case, check your browser configurations (see below) and contact your systems administrator for support.

If all fails, please use the Contact Us form (category My ESC Account Management) to advise us of the problem.
