ESC Working Group on e-Cardiology

Dear members of the ESC WG on e-Cardiology,

Looking back on the year 2019, I’m delighted to see that there has never been so much attention for e-Cardiology and Digital Health Technology at the many ESC congresses.

As a community, we should be proud and at the same time eager to extend the important role of our work in cardiology care, research, and education. A big THANK YOU to all of you for your contributions. Let’s start new and consolidate existing collaborations within the ESC family to keep the ESC Digital Wave going in 2020.

I’d like to bring to your attention a few exciting opportunities for presenting your latest research, as our WG will be hosting the following e-Cardiology Award competitions:

  • ESC Working Group Awards at ESC Congress 2020: our Working Group will award the two best abstracts in e-Cardiology with a diploma and monetary prize of 500€. Results will be announced during the ESC WGs Award Ceremony & Networking Reception. Abstracts are eligible for this award only when the presenting author is a member of the ESC WG on e-Cardiology at the time of submission.
  • Clinical Needs Translational Award (CTA) at Computing in Cardiology 2020 in Rimini, Italy 13-16 Sept 2020 (deadline: April 15, 2020, 4 page submission): this award aims to promote translational research in the CinC community. I encourage you all to submit any of your novel translational work in the field of computational cardiology
  • e-Cardiology Award Session at EHRA 2020 in Vienna, Austria (deadline has passed): I encourage those of you who will be attending the EHRA 2020 conference in Vienna to visit our WG’s annual award session. On Sunday 29 March 14h00 – 15h30, the authors of the six best graded abstracts submitted under the abstract category “e-Cardiology / Digital Health” will be competing

In addition, I’d like to bring to your attention the upcoming elections for Nucleus Member positions. Even though the call for candidates will not be opened before the end of April, I’d like to encourage you all to consider and prepare your candidacy. Do not miss out on this chance to become one of our new recruits and actively contribute to and initiate WG activities. You will receive more information later this spring, so keep an eye on our ESC WG communication.

On behalf of the entire WG Nucleus I wish you all the best,

Joost Lumens, PhD, FESC
Chairperson ESC WG on e-Cardiology 2018-2020
