Dear members of the ESC Working Group on e-Cardiology,
our working group was heavily involved in the organization of the first ESC Digital Summit in Tallinn, Estonia (5-6 October, 2019). For those of you who were not able to attend this groundbreaking Digital Health event, I remind that all debate sessions, roundtable discussions, and technology and innovation sessions are available online via ESC 365. The scientific content of this event was highly appreciated by more than 500 attendants, in particular the sessions about wearables and mobile apps, artificial intelligence, and in silico clinical trials in cardiology.
In Tallinn, our WG was the proud host of the e-Cardiology Award. During this pitch session, the five best graded abstracts submitted to the Call for Technology & Innovation were presented by passionate inventors. The winning pitch was presented by Dr. Claudio Capelli from University College London, UK. He presented his VheaRt technology, a versatile virtual reality application that can be used to improve planning, understanding and communication of congenital heart disease.
Congratulations to all of the finalists, pictured here.
I’d like to bring also the ESC Digital Portal to your attention: it hosts all information, news, activities, initiatives, content and tools related to Digital Health in cardiology. I invite you all to visit the portal and check out its features, such as the social wall, the poll of the month, and the Digital Health Virtual Journal where experts share their opinion on the latest Digital Health publications and developments relevant for the ESC community. Together with the ESC Digital Health committee, we hope that you will enjoy the content of this online platform. Furthermore, we strongly encourage you to send us any ideas for content that you consider relevant for the ESC community.
On behalf of the entire WG Nucleus I send you our warmest season’s greetings,
Joost Lumens, PhD, FESC
Chairperson ESC WG on e-Cardiology 2018-2020
