Dear colleagues,

We hope you all enjoyed your summertime and were able to spend some quality time with your friends and family. We want to provide you with a brief update about our activities.

The ESC Congress 2021 -The Digital Experience was an amazing event and an exciting journey. We would like to congratulate Dr. Christos Kotanidis, winner of the 2021 Young Investigator Awards Session in Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation for his work on human arterial transcriptomic signature as a major predictor of adverse cardiac events and identification of novel, redox-related therapeutic targets within the vascular wall. You can still discover this insightful session on ESC 365.

In this issue of the Newsletter, Dr. Olivia Manfrini (University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy), comments on the paper “Coronary microcirculatory dysfunction and acute cellular rejection after heart transplantation”. This prospective study evaluates the prognostic role of coronary microcirculatory dysfunction assessed by index of microcirculatory resistance early after heart transplantation. Read the full comment.
