Being a member of the Working Group of Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation can be a constant hallmark for your scientific and clinical work and generate collaborations. A new year, a new initiative. On March 8, 2022, we will organize a live online Discussion Forum with you on “Coronary Microcirculation: pathophysiology and assessment”. More information to come soon. Stay connected and reserve a spot!

To look forward in 2022, we would like to draw your attention on the upcoming meetings, abstract submission deadlines and awards:
- Frontiers in CardioVascular Biomedicine 2022 will be held from Friday, 29 April - Sunday, 01 May in Budapest, Hungary. The Frontiers in CardioVascular Biomedicine is one of the most relevant platforms for basic and translational cardiovascular biomedicine and is an opportunity to meet one another again in person, exchange inspirations and start fruitful collaborations.
- ESC Congress 2022 Barcelona, Onsite & Online, will run from Friday 26 – Monday 29 August. This year’s deadline for submitting Abstracts is 20 March, for Clinical Cases 25 March, and from 4 April to 6 June for Late-Breaking Science.
- All young members are invited to submit abstracts within the topic of Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation and apply for the “Young Investigator Award”. Best abstracts will be selected and presented during an online Young Investigator Award Session Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation. This is unique opportunity for early career members to develop a network and to promote their research at the highest scientific level.
Lastly, in this issue of the Newsletter, Prof. Dimitris Tousoulis (Chair of the Working Group on Coronary Pathophysiology and Microcirculation, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Medical School), comments on the paper “Biomarkers of Vascular Inflammation for Cardiovascular Risk Prognostication: A Meta-Analysis”. This article provides novel insights on the use of biomarkers of vascular inflammation for risk stratification in coronary heart disease. Read the full comment.
