ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Regenerative & Reparative Medicine

Dear Members,

At the start of a summer break for many of you, we are still facing the consequences of COVID-19. Although vaccination numbers are rapidly increasing, both loosening of measures and new variations cause people to be more careful again. Fortunately, hospitalizations and ICs seem not be massively occupied by COVID-patients, although we still need to be careful in areas where vaccinations are not up to speed yet. With the first European agreements on travelling between countries, the so-needed international interaction will hopefully be allowed again and we can interact in a hybrid format in the near future.

When we return from our summer breaks, the ESC2021 annual meeting will start with high numbers of inspiring and new insights in our endeavour to combat CVD. Some recommendations from the extensive program:

Highlights from the Young in basic science (28th August)

Best of Cardiovascular Research (29th August)

RNA Therapeutics: from vaccination to regenerative medicine (30th August)

As you all will understand, the annual ESC2021 meeting is still a digital experience and working groups cannot organize small gatherings. We hope to announce new future events and plans soon. After the COVID-19 pandemic, we have to renew our energies to fight other diseases again, including our Cardiovascular Regenerative and Reparative Medicine approaches to combat CVD. To fuel new inspirations and give some important highlights, we provide you with some interesting reads.

On behalf of the Working Group nucleus,

Stefan Janssens, Chairperson 2020-2022

and

Joost Sluijter, Communication Coordinator 2020-2022
