The Mission of the ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Regenerative and Reparative Medicine is to promote the use of biological and advanced technological therapies to repair the heart and blood vessels. We aim to link basic, preclinical and clinical research through a clear roadmap, and to share solid scientific evidence with the wider scientific community and key stakeholders.

Our priorities include:

  • Setting clear goals for discovery and development over the next decade,
  • (Re)defining cardiovascular regeneration-based advanced therapies,
  • Building and sharing a common strategy to strengthen the field.

Our Working Group was featured in the November 2023 CardioPulse section of the European Heart Journal. Read about the rise of cardiovascular regenerative and reparative medicine (CARE), which led to the creation of our Working Group in 2017.

Objectives

  • To support progress in repairing damaged human organs by combining new scientific discoveries, better regenerative products and technologies, improved preclinical models and large clinical trials — all aimed at delivering effective therapies for patients,
  • To build a strong network of professionals, clinicians and scientists involved in developing and validating advanced therapies for cardiovascular regeneration.
