ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Regenerative & Reparative Medicine

Dear Members,

Unfortunately, we are still confronted with difficult times but some first lights are in sight. In more and more countries, infections rates for COVID-19 are declining and increased number of people being vaccinated. Hospitals are still overwhelmed and confronted with abnormal post-COVID-19 care and scientists have ongoing problems in their daily coordination and logistical hurdles for supplies to their labs. However, the first small scientific meetings after the summer have been announced in a hybrid format. Let’s hope the positive trends continue and we can get back to a different normal in which both our new digital-way of working can be fused with physical interactions and continuations of fruitful collaborations.

As you all will understand, the annual ESC2021 meeting is still a digital experience and working groups cannot organize small gatherings. We hope to announce new future events and plans soon. After the COVID-19 pandemic, we have to renew our energies to fight other diseases again, including our Cardiovascular Regenerative and Reparative Medicine approaches to combat CVD. To fuel new inspirations and give some important highlights, we provide you with some interesting reads.

On behalf of the Working Group nucleus,

Stefan Janssens, Chairperson 2020-2022

and

Joost Sluijter, Communication Coordinator 2020-2022
