ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Regenerative & Reparative Medicine

The ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Regenerative and Reparative Medicine (CARE) finished the year with three main activities:

  1.  Finalising the first consensus paper of the Working Group, which will reflect on the current status of the Cardiovascular Reparative Medicine field in terms of products, animal studies and clinical trials.
  2. Planning future educational activities in the form of previously successful ESC webinars.
  3. Organising the second edition of the Working Group scientific retreat. This year it will be focused on the realistic roadmap for reparative therapies. Specifically, it will be developed around the following hot topics: should more clinical trials be initiated? Which should be the most efficient focus of basic science? Which product and which mechanism of action to investigate? Which should be the roadmap of that eventual product to reach the clinical application? The conclusions of this meeting will be circulated in due time for all interested members.

In parallel, more efforts have been done to increase the number of members of the Working Group, which has slowly but steadily grown to 161 members so far. We encourage all basic and clinical scientists with interest in this field to become a member.
