ESC Working Group on Atherosclerosis & Vascular Biology

Dear Members of the ESC Working Group on Atherosclerosis and Vascular Biology,

We would like to share with you and your families our best wishes for a healthy, happy and successful 2021. Although privately and professionally challenged by the global fight against COVID-19, we stand firm together and are confident that 2021 will be the year of change, thanks also to the running vaccination campaign.

In these difficult times, the nucleus Members of our WG are working with great enthusiasm in order to keep you always updated with the latest knowledge in the field of vascular biology and atherosclerosis. Please recommend to your colleagues, who are not yet part of our WG, to join us. This is the best way to keep all of us in touch without missing the new exciting initiatives we are preparing for 2021!

We are currently looking into organising an online event to provide you with state-of-the-art perspectives on different topics, one of them being “Sex and gender in atherosclerosis”. More details will be provided to you as soon as possible. Stay tuned!

In this issue of the Newsletter, we also share with you recommended readings and a commented article about the role of the glucocorticoid-induced tumour necrosis factor receptor family-related protein to drive atherosclerosis with mechanistic insights coming from mice models and clinically relevant evidence from patients. We think these readings will be of great interest to you.

On behalf of the Nucleus Members of the Working Group on Atherosclerosis and Vascular Biology, may you all stay strong and healthy!!
