Dear Members of the ESC Working Group on Atherosclerosis and Vascular Biology,
Summer has started and vacation has begun or is just around the corner! For many members of our Working Group (WG), summer started off with the Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Atherosclerosis, which was held in Barcelona, Spain. We enjoyed a week of superb scientific presentations, meeting old friends, making new friends, sharing new ideas and starting novel collaborations. This was followed by a great EVBO summer school, also in Barcelona, where our young scientist could enjoy lectures on the latest insights in the vascular biology and atherosclerosis field.
We hope that all of you can now relax a little and prepare for the next season of great cardiovascular science, starting off with the annual ESC Congress from 25-28 August 2023 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. We are all looking forward to meeting all our members in Amsterdam. Congratulations to Doctors Xiaoqun Wang and Julian Uwe Gabriel Wagner, the two winners of the WG Awards selected from the best abstracts in our field! Make sure you attend their presentations:
- Increased 12/15-lipoxygenase by disturbed flow promotes endothelial dysfunction and the development of atherosclerosis
Presenter: Xiaoqun Wang (Rui Jin Hospital- Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine - Shanghai, China) Time: 09:10
Novel mechanisms for insights into atherosclerosis
Saturday, 26 August at 09:00-10:00
Abstract session - Science Box 3 - Vascular senescence controls the neuro-cardiac interface in the aging heart
Presenter: Julian Uwe Gabriel Wagner (Wolfgang Goethe University - Frankfurt, Germany)
Vascular homeostasis: senescence and oxidative stress
Sunday, 27 August at 13:15-14:00
Moderated ePosters – Station 8
