ESC Working Group on Aorta & Peripheral Vascular Diseases

Dear friends, 2019 is coming to an end!

With regard to this we can look back on a very successful year for our WG!

We had a very successful, well attended Joint Educational Training Programme: “Antithrombotic Therapies: clinical challenges and future directions” on 12-14 June 2019 in the European Heart House in Sophia Antipolis, together with our friends from the ESC Working Group on Thrombosis.

This collaboration was the consequence of a Webinar series both WG´s had set up and results in future collaboration. A first joint congress will be held next year in Spain: EuroThrombosis & EuroVessels. Dates and contents will be topic of the First newsletter 2020.

2 Webinars on LEAD are also coming for early 2020:

Furthermore 3 consensus documents from our WG, partly in collaboration with partners have been published as well as 4 new guideline documents, where members of our WG have been in the writing committee, as well as once again “The year in Cardiology “with content from WG.

Last but not least the annually congress of the ESC, 2019 in Paris. This meeting reflected the highest number of sessions so far, where members of our WG have been part of.

A huge part of this movement is due to the constant efforts of our Nucleus to collaborate with other WG´s and Councils within the ESC, as well as with other societies and partners who are taking care of patients with peripheral arterial disease and disorders of thromboembolism.

At the end of 2019 let me say a huge thank you to all of who have contributed to the success of this newsletter with their consistent involvement and work.

In the name of Victor Aboyans, our Chairperson and myself let me wish you a merry Christmas, enjoy the holiday session, take some time of and enjoy it with your beloved ones.

For 2020 all the best that can happen for you and your beloved ones.

Marianne Brodmann
