ESC Young Members Virtual Networking Event – ESC Congress 2021

The ESC Board Committee for Young Cardiovascular Professionals is proud to launch its first Virtual Networking event during ESC Congress 2021, in the presence of ESC President, Stephan Achenbach.

Embark on a virtual 45-minute first-class flight with peers from the ESC Young Community. Join us to exchange and share your experience of working and living abroad.

Afzal Sohaib - Moderator

Afzal Sohaib.png

Dr. Sohaib is a cardiac electrophysiologist at Barts Heart Centre and King George Hospital in London. He trained at Imperial College, London where he also did a PhD which investigates the physiology of cardiac resynchronisation therapy. He is involved in a range of educational projects and edited the book “Decoding Cardiac Electrophysiology".

 

Fathima Aaysha Cader - Moderator 'Asia'

Dr. F. Aaysha Cader is a cardiologist with an interest in interventional cardiology at the Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital & Research Institute (ICHRI), Dhaka, Bangladesh. She is currently pursuing a MSc in Clinical Trials and has research interests in acute coronary syndromes, coronary intervention, cardiovascular outcomes and sex disparities in cardiovascular disease.

Marat Fudim - Moderator 'North America'

Dr. Marat Fudim is a heart failure cardiologist at the Duke University Medical Center. He completed his medical school in Germany, residency at Vanderbilt and cardiology fellowship at Duke. He currently serves as the Medical Director for the Heart Failure Research Unit and Heart Failure Remote Monitoring Clinic.

 

Ricardo Ladeiras-Lopes - Moderator 'Europe'

Ricardo Ladeiras Lopes Picture_2017.jpgDr Ricardo Ladeiras-Lopes is a Cardiologist dedicated to Cardiovascular Imaging (especially cardiac CT and CMR) at Gaia Hospital Centre and Physiology Assistant at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, in Portugal.
He has spent 6 months in Bristol doing a clinical CMR fellowship under the supervision of Prof Chiara Bucciarelli-Ducci.
Member of the ESC Board Committee for Young Cardiovascular Professionals, Dr Ladeiras-Lopes has a special interest in the utilization of Social Media as a tool for communication of medical and scientific content.
He is the Twitter Editor of the European Heart Journal.

Leslie Marisol Lugo Gavidia - Moderator 'South America'

Leslie Marisol Lugo-Gavidia (MBBS,MD,MSc) obtained her degree from Mexico. After completing her Master's degree in biomedical science, she underwent a two-year clinical research fellowship in cardiovascular disease, thrombosis, and antithrombotic therapy at the Cardiovascular Research laboratory in the Bellvitge University Hospital. Dr. Lugo-Gavidia is currently doing her PhD in vascular health and personalised medicine in the UWA Medical School - Royal Perth Hospital Unit, Australia.

Ali Nazmi Calik - Moderator 'Africa'

Associate Prof. Dr. Ali Nazmi Calik works as an interventional cardiologist in Siyami Ersek Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Center, Istanbul, Turkey.

He has chaired the #TSC Young Committee for the last three years. He also serves as the PCRonline Journal Club Core Team member and as a reviewer and #SoMe editor of EHJ - Case Reports.

Tu Nguyen - Moderator 'Oceania'

Tu Nguyen.jpgDr Tu Nguyen (MD, PhD, FESC, FACC) is an early-career researcher at Westmead Applied Research Centre, Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney, Australia. Her principal research focus is the management of cardiovascular disease in older and frail people. She is also interested in cardiovascular pharmacology, frailty and sarcopenia. She obtained her medical degree in Vietnam and her PhD degree from the University of Sydney, Australia.
