EHRA Scientific documents - Endorsement and joint documents rules

The purpose of a scientific statement of EHRA is to give a comprehensive and balanced overview of the chosen topic, to summarize existing knowledge, to identify evidence gaps, and to point to areas in need of improvement in the implementation. By these documents, EHRA voices the needs of European cardiologists with a special interest in arrhythmias and responds to emerging clinical issues.

Endorsement process

At least one representative of the Endorsing Society has to be part of the document (writing group and/or review process) even without being officially nominated. If no representative of the Endorsing Society is part of the document, the Requesting Society may still offer the opportunity to review and endorse the Requesting Society’s document. 

The Endorsing Society can choose to decline endorsement.

The Requesting Society must ensure to leave at least 4 weeks to the Endorsing Society to review the document.

The Endorsing Society reserves the right to amend, extend or alter in any way the terms of the endorsement. i.e for HRS when some parts of the document are not applicable in the countries represented by the Endorsing Society.

Within EHRA the document will be reviewed internally by the EHRA Scientific Documents Committee (2 weeks maximum) and the EHRA Executive Board (2 weeks maximum).

Joint Documents rules

• For EHRA led joint document: the EHRA process for setting up a document will have to be followed. Authors and reviewers from the collaborative society will be included. At the time of the publication, the editor in chief of the respective journals for each societies will be contacted in order to proceed with simultaneous publication.
• For EHRA non led joint document. The process of the leading society will have to be followed. At the time of the publication, the editor in chief of the journals for the respective each societies will be contacted in order to proceed with simultaneous publication.
