As the last EAPCI Summit took place in 2019, there was great excitement from EAPCI Board Members and the Chairs of National Working Groups and/or National Cardiac Societies in Interventional Cardiology about meeting again at what is normally a yearly event, held at the European Heart House on 22 and 23 June.
Delegates from 20 countries attended the meeting. The EAPCI Summit is a unique opportunity to give voice to the National Working Groups and National Cardiac Societies in Interventional Cardiology and to focus on specific topics of interest to reinforce and improve collaboration.
Prof. Barbato, EAPCI President 2022–2024 supported the theme, Equitable Access to Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions for Patients & Professionals. The summit allowed for very interactive and dynamic discussions on related topics of interest, such as equitable access to PCI in cancer patients and healthcare professionals, sex and gender disparities, online communication, and further collaboration of the Young Community in international joint sessions.
The special focus was given to the ESC Atlas in Interventional Cardiology and the Mutual Recognition Process in Training and Education, while the last session was reserved for delegates from National Working Groups and National Cardiac Societies to address their specific needs and to make suggestions on how to further expand our collaboration.
Workshops were successful in engaging volunteers to actively exchange, share ideas and provide insightful information, which resulted in a very lively and passionate summit, which was much appreciated by all participants.
