Episode 3: The BOX trial

What: The BOX trial evaluated the use of liberal vs. restrictive targets for blood oxygen levels as well as blood pressure levels in patients after our-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The findings show a neutral outcome across the two trial strata - but how should we use these results in clinical practice? And which patients might still benefit from a more liberal or a more restrictive approach?

Profs. Hassager and Schaubroeck, two experts in the care for patients with acute cardiovascular diseases, will discuss the trial and its implications.

What: The neutral ECLS SHOCK trial had major implications for the care of patients with acute myocardial infarction and cardiogenic shock, but do the results really apply to all patients and what do they tell us about the use of VA-ECMO in general?

Profs. Steffen Desch and Alain Combes, two experts in the field, will provide answers during an in-depth discussion of the trial.
