Digital Health at ESC Congress 2023
One excellent proof is the Digital Area organised at ESC Congress 2023. Many companies related to cardiovascular care were there and a great number of lectures were provided to the cardiovascular community. A good example, related to acute cardiac care, was the session entitled “The future is now: the role of digital health in acute coronary syndromes”
Digital Health within ACVC
In 2022, the Association for Acute CardioVascular Care (ACVC) founded a task force on digital health, chaired by Prof. Marco Tubaro and Dr. Rafael Vidal-Perez.
The objective is to expand knowledge about the technical solutions which make digital health possible.
To this purpose, we enrolled a group of PhDs, post-docs and professors of computer science and bioengineering to teach digital health to cardiologists, through a series of ACVC Talks on Digital Health
Another activity organised by our Task Force was a workshop about Digital Health during the ESC Acute CardioVascular Care congress held in Marseille in 2023. Some entrepreneurs showed their projects related with acute care and digital health.
Over last months, we have been involving young community members in order to move this initiative forward and we aim to announce new ideas to be prepared for the future, like providing comments about breakthrough technology which have been provided by bioengineers.
Digital Health Articles Selection
In the meantime, we have selected three recent papers that show the value of digital health for the acute cardiovascular care community.
- A novel breakthrough in wrist-worn transdermal troponin-I-sensor assessment for acute myocardial infarction
- Use of machine learning algorithms to predict life-threatening ventricular arrhythmia in sepsis
- Artificial intelligence–augmented electrocardiography for left ventricular systolic dysfunction in patients undergoing high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T
