Renal dysfunction is frequently a component of multiple organ dysfuntion, a complex syndrome affecting the most severely ill critical care patients.

This chapter will address assessment and management of the acutely unwell cardiac patient with Acute Kidney Injury requiring renal replacement therapy, and the implementation of renal support in these patients.
