Learning Objectives

  • Appreciate the epidemiology and the impact of thrombosis and venous thromboembolism (VTE)</
  • Identify the predisposing factors for VTE in different patient populations
  • Determine the appropriate management strategy in challenging cases and vulnerable patient populations, including VTE in pregnancy
  • Implement guideline recommendations to the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension
  • Understand the role of the laboratory in the contemporary management of anticoagulated patients with VTE
